Go Your Own Way: Take Control of Your Life!

One of those blokes selling cleaning equipment came to my door just now. He told me that he had got into trouble through drinking and had ended up in prison, and that now he was trying to get out of that. He explained that he came from a very poor background and was a victim of circumstance with his mother kicking him out because that was the only way she could get herself council accommodation and private landlords that he said are all drug dealers. Not surprisingly he had become depressed, and the drinking had been the result.

When I told him I was a life coach, he asked me what I would say to him. I asked him to follow his passion; what was he good at, what did he really enjoy doing? He replied that he didn't know. He didn't know what his passion was. He didn't know what he was good at. How has our society, education and healthcare systems, failed this young man so badly. If only the people in charge of them could understand about how a Positive Mental Attitude is so important to achieving what we want in our lives. It doesn't matter what background you are from, if you think positively, things happen for you and opportunities arise.

As he was talking to me it made me think that we all have a choice, no matter what our circumstances.

My advice to him was to:
GO AND GET SOME HELP. To go to his doctor and ask for a way to help his depression.
GO AND GET SOME HELP to start up his own business.
GO AND GET SOME HELP to get him out of the trap he found himself in.

Our society has made us believe that if we show any sign of ignorance or needing help, then we are somehow lesser beings and to be pitied. The truth couldn't be farther away.
Asking for help is a strength, never a weakness.
Humans are learning in this age to become empowered and to finish our time of being victims. Look at how politicians and governments have lost their perceived power lately. They are no longer held in the same esteem as before and this is due to the individual reclaiming their power. People are no longer satisfied with others telling them what to do or what to think and are beginning to think for themselves. Hurrah!!

We are at the dawn of the Age of Empowerment!

Think of something you can stop doing today that controls how you are and what you do, something that you have to do for others, and then think of how you can take control of your own life and fill the gap with something YOU WANT TO DO!
